When it comes to non invasive cosmetic procedures, botox is the go to drug. Millions of people utilize botox to firm up their face and remove the various creases and wrinkles that come about from old age. Stars and Botox also tend to go hand in hand as celebrities seem to make the most use out of any procedure that can keep them looking their best.

But what happens when the celebs take it just a little too far? For those who do not know what exactly botox is, it stands for Botulinum toxin. It is a paralyzing agent that can be injected into certain muscle groups to allow them to relax. It is a safe procedure undergone by millions of people world wide. But it is not without it’s drawbacks.

Botox has been linked with several side effects such as droopy eyes, swelling, difficulty swallowing and breathing and other side effects. But there is more to it then just that. When a botox injection goes wrong, it can leave long lasting effects. For example, some celebs have reported difficulty in attaining certain expressions, such as a simple smile due to their routine use of botox.

When these Stars and Botox treatments do not mesh well, incidents like the above can happen. Sometimes these side effects are only temporary and they will recover. However other times they can be permanent, robbing them of the ability to ever use those expressions again.

Not all drawbacks are so doom and gloom, though. Routine uses of botox may not harm you or deprive you of expressions, but they also may not allow you to look your best either. Some celebs simply do not seem to look themselves through their rigorous use of botox. A prime example of this is the famous Rambo or Rocky, the good old Sylvester Stallone.

While Mr. Stallone certainly looks good for his age, there is also something off about him due to his constant usage of botox. This problem plagues numerous celebrities who rely too heavily on this ‘miracle drug’. While looking young and attractive is important in that line of work, there are limits to just how far you should go with it.

When botox goes awry and leaves you with either a detrimental effect or simply not looking your best, it can be disheartening to say the least. You go in expecting to look young again and come out looking like your face has been frozen, or worse. It can be a scary thought once you stop and actually think about it.

However, like with the Stars and Botox, it is all about moderation. Botox has been proven to be quite safe and severe side effects are exceptionally rare. So if you are looking to get rid of those wrinkles and crows feet, this is a great way to do it. Just do not become addicted to your botox injections otherwise you may end up like some of those frozen-faced stars you see on the red carpet, and that is not an appealing thought.

Plastic Surgery Sticker Shock

One of the inevitable issues you will face when considering plastic surgery is the cost.
In this article, we talk about the sticker shock of plastic surgery for specific procedures.

Plastic Surgery Sticker Shock

It goes without saying that discussing the “average” of anything is potentially a dangerous task to undertake. In our capitalist economy, prices are dependent on a variety of factors including location, qualification of the plastic surgeon, the number of surgeons in the area and so on.

Given this risk, it is important to understand that the following listings regarding the prices of plastic surgery procedures are to be used as a guideline only. Plastic surgeons in your area may charge exactly these prices, a bit more or a bit less. These numbers will give you a range to consider, but comparing costs quoted by the plastic surgeons you evaluate in your area is the only way to determine the going rate in your town or city. With that caveat in mind, following are procedures and the stick shock prices you might expect to find.

Liposuction – $3,000 to $5,000

Breast Augmentation: $3,500 to $8,000

Rhinoplasty: $4,000 to $8,000

Botox: $300 each location

Eyelid Lift: $3,000 to $6,000

Facelift: $7,500 to $15,000

Tummy Tuck: $5,000 to $10,000

Collagen Injections: $400 to $700

The above procedures tend to be the most popular as of the writing of this article. There are variations to each and entirely new procedures are being offered all of the time. In general, the more specific or new the procedure, the more you are going to pay.

Having put forth the above prices, it is important that you understand something very clearly. Plastic surgery will improve your appearance, but it is a medical procedure like any other. Your body will be modified. Just like you would not select a heart surgeon based on their fees, you should not do so with plastic surgeons. If you find a multiple surgeons you are comfortable with, pricing can be a factor. It should never be the primary factor.

Although the above prices may be cause a bit of sticker shock, plastic surgery costs have actually come down significantly over the last 15 years. Imagine what they used to be!

When the stars walk down the red carpet on Oscar night, they know that the eyes of the world are upon them, so they want to look their best. Traditionally this meant designer gowns, amazing jewelry, and an afternoon spent in the hands of hair and makeup gurus. Now days, in addition to all of that, the morning schedule on Oscar day, often includes a visit to the plastic surgeon for a little Botox or collagen work.
Botox treatments for erase the fine lines seem to be the procedure of choice on the red carpet. Botox treatments are simply small doses of botulism toxin injected in the face to paralyze the muscles that cause crow’s feet and furrowed brows. Injections cost a mere $400 each and can take a few days to take effect. They last five to six months. Some stars opt to have their lips and wrinkles injected with Dermologin, a corpse harvested human collagen. If you are interested in having the procedure but don’t have the bankroll to support it, don’t despair. Some plastic surgeons, like Beverly Hills based dermatologist Simon Ourian, offers an annual Oscar wrinkle blasting sale.
Dr. Anthony Griffin of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” and a Beverly Hills-based cosmetic surgeon reports that all of the little Oscar fixes he provides to the elite of Hollywood add up to quite a bit of extra work.
During Oscar season, Griffin has been busy doing light peels and spot liposuction, much of the latter “driven by what they are going to wear. “
Julia Roberts gets collagen, Renée Zellweger gets skin resurfacing and Michael Douglas gets everything. Charlize Theron is the exception.
“She’s gorgeous. I can’t think of anything she needs,” Says Griffin.
While he does work on many stars, there are a few he would like to get his hands on.
“I would like to get Robert Redford in to get his skin rejuvenated.
He looks awful,” Griffin says. “His skin is very distracting to me.”

Paying for Your Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is almost always an elective surgery unless there is an underlying medical reason. As such, your medical insurance is probably not going to cover it, which means you must.

Paying for Your Plastic Surgery

Unless you can make some unique argument to your health insurance company, it is going to refuse any claim you submit related to plastic surgery. If you read the tiny boilerplate language in your health insurance policy, and it is tiny, you will find it only pays for medically necessary surgery. The terminology differs by policy, but the basic idea is you have to have a note from a doctor indicating the surgery is pivotal for your overall health. Feeling better about your appearance is not a medically necessary basis!

Like most medical procedures, plastic surgery is not cheap. Simple botox injections can run a couple of hundred bucks, but most significant procedures are going to run a couple thousand dollars at a minimum. Simply put, you need to give some thought regarding paying for the procedures.

The simplest way to handle the cost of paying for plastic surgery is to save up some money and pay in cash. Your surgeon will love you because cash is king, even in plastic surgery. Alternatively, you can also break out a credit card with a high limit and charge it. Ah, plastic paying for plastic surgery. Surely there is some metaphysical message there!

In a capitalist economy, there is always a company looking for opportunities. In the world of plastic surgery, more than a few companies offer financing for your procedure. The financing is in the form of an unsecured loan. These lenders will finance all or part of the cost of the procedure, but you should pay close attention to the fine print. Interest rates can be similar to credit cards, which means you end up paying a lot more in the long term.

Some physicians accept this form of payment while others do not because of limits put on the payment amount by the companies. Essentially, the companies demand the doctor take less than the normal fee, much as health insurance companies do with most medical professionals. Physicians hate these caps and some simply will not put up with it. Point being, make sure the surgeon in question accepts this form of payment before going through the application process.

For most people, the best option for paying for plastic surgery is the old savings account. Since Americans are infamously bad savers, you may want to check out the other options available.

Stretch Mark Surgery

Stretch Mark Surgery

If you have stretch marks and all the creams and lotions have had very little effect on them, you may want to speak with your doctor about stretch mark surgery.
You will have to do a little bit of homework before you even find a surgeon you can trust.

If you know someone who has had some good plastic surgery done and they were satisfied with the results ask them for a referral. If you do not know someone then make sure whomever you choose is a board certified plastic surgeon and then ask for references or to look at before and after pictures of work they have done in the past.

Once you find a good surgeon then call and make and appointment to talk about what you want done. They will listen and tell you about the options available. Some of the things they may discuss with you are tummy tuck, dermabrasion treatments and laser surgery.

A tummy tuck might be an option if there is also saggy skin as well as stretch marks on your abdomen. The surgeon will stretch the skin and cut off the excess before suturing the incision closed. This is a major surgery so be sure to discuss the risks involved. You will probably go home with a drain or two in place to keep fluid from building up in the incision. This aids in healing.

The thing about a tummy tuck and stretch marks is that the tummy tuck may actually create stretch marks unless you treat the skin as you would during pregnancy to help it stay soft and supple to minimize the development of any new stretch marks.

The second option of stretch mark surgery your doctor will discuss with you is dermabrasion treatments. This can be a very painful form of treatment where the skin is frozen and the layers of skin are scraped away with an abrasive tool leaving the skin underneath raw and sore.

Laser surgery is the next option you could discuss with your doctor. During the laser treatment the laser is positioned over an area of stretch marks and then pulsed several times until the area of the stretch marks begins to shrink. You may need several treatments in order to reduce the stretch marks.

There is minimal pain or discomfort involved with this procedure so no anesthesia is used. The most you will feel is a stinging sensation that leaves the area feeling like it is sunburned.

After any of these procedures there is a time of healing that needs to take place from just a few days to a few weeks. It varies with every procedure with the recovery time for the laser treatment being the least.

Make sure you know the cost as well as the risk of stretch marks surgery before you make any decisions. Most likely anything you have done will not be covered by your insurance because these procedures are considered cosmetic in nature, so you will need to make payment arrangements or have the money saved up to pay in full for the procedure you choose.

Swelling After Facial Procedures

The makeover shows on television have resulted in a significant upswing in the popularity of facial plastic surgery procedures. They often fail to show, however, the swelling afterwards.

Swelling After Facial Procedures

Choosing to have plastic surgery is always a big step. More people are deciding to have this permanent form of cosmetic change due to the aging population and the amount of Hollywood stars that talk about their procedures. An especially popular form of plastic surgery for women and men over 40 are facial procedures. Here are a few things that you can expect when going in for yours.

Keep in mind that there are many different types of plastic surgeries for the face that can be performed. There are upper and lower lifts. There are also laser treatments, which are also known as laser skin resurfacing. The goal of all facial procedures is to correct issues on the face that can happen as a person ages. Sagging skin, wrinkles, jowls and deep cheek folds are all issues that traditional surgeries can correct, while laser procedures tend to target smaller skin imperfections such as small wrinkles.

A facial procedure is usually performed by a board certified plastic surgeon under general anesthesia. Cuts are made into the skin at the hairline, and the underlying tissue and muscle is pulled taut. This gives the skin a smoother, more youthful appearance. Sometimes, excess skin is also removed from the facial area. All of this work can be done on an outpatient basis. Patients are often up and moving around very soon.

If you have a full or partial surgery, you are going to have to deal with some discomfort afterwards. Swelling will be a part of this and you have to have reasonable expectations. You are not going to come out of surgery and immediately look great. The adjustment of muscles, fatty tissue and skin is going to get a reaction from the body. Swelling will be prominent immediately after the procedure as the body forces blood into the area to help with the healing. Frankly, your face will look like a balloon. After a few weeks, however, the swelling should seriously abate. This will let you get a better idea of the final look. That being said, some minor swelling can last as long as 10 months, so you have to be patient.

Having plastic surgery on your face requires significant surgical invasion into muscles, skin and fatty material. The body is going to act to heal itself by pushing blood into the area. This will result in swelling on a large scale. Don’t panic when you see yourself for the first time after the surgery. The swelling will go down with time.

Natural skin care is the buzz word in today’s world – at least, when it comes to wrinkles. With the popularity of Botox when it first hit the market, companies were eagerly trying to replicate the results without turning it into a medical procedure.

Well, there are plenty of skin care products that have been developed with all natural ingredients, designed specifically for aging skin.

As a quick summary, sun exposure, smoking and the natural aging process all contribute to your skins diminished ability to create collagen and elastin, which are the fibers holding skin together and keeping it smooth and young looking.

If you’re looking for a natural skin care product, try a product that contains Argireline. This ingredient is derived from amino acids that occur naturally, and works to relax facial tension.

When your facial muscles aren’t tense, they will not contribute to wrinkles. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Edelweis extract is another great ingredient. A strong antioxidant, what it does is clean up the damaging free radicals caused by metabolism and pollutants, in addition to blocking ultraviolet light from penetrating the skin. Shea Butter is also a beneficial component. A natural moisturizer and skin firmer, shea butter promotes the healing of skin, while working to prevent dryness and wrinkles. When choosing an anti-aging product, be sure to consider one with at least one of these components.

Keep in mind that with any skin care product designed for wrinkles, results will typically begin appearing within 30 days. So, do not despair if you do not see immediate results. Some products may say that you will begin to see results in as little as two weeks, but typically it takes about a month before any significant improvements are noted.

The best things about a lot of the products available on the market today are that there is no prescription needed! No costly injections, no risk of any serious side effects; just the promise of diminished fine lines and wrinkles. However, in order to seriously see continued results, you must care for your wrinkles on a somewhat regular basis. In other words, applying the cream, lotion, or serum, exactly as the product describes, in addition to caring for your skin in other ways. Only then will you be able to benefit fully from these treatments, and truly see healthy, radiant skin.

So, for diminished fine lines and wrinkles, there are natural ways to achieve these results. The good news is, you don’t have to shell out for costly skin procedures when the nearest drugstore or internet store has everything you could need for smoother, more youthful skin. Keep in mind, most of these products work best on fine lines and wrinkles. The more serious cases may need additional help.

As long as you take preventative measures to ensure a youthful complexion, these products will ensure a radiant, more youthful complexion. Who doesn’t want beautiful, wrinkle-free skin – naturally?

A quick online search for the term Botox will reveal that there are as many people searching for Botox as there people searching for Botox alternatives.
Botox was approved by the FDA in 2002 as a cosmetic procedure to get rid of wrinkles. A simple needle injection was demonstrated to miraculously eliminate nagging lines and wrinkles and the boom was on….until people started to read about what “tox” in Botox really was.

Botox is the trade name used for Botulinum Toxin Type A. Yes, I said toxin as in poison. Botox is in fact a relative of botulism, a kind of food poisoning. This food poisoning occurs when a person eats any kind of food that contains a neurotoxin which is created by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.

Botulinum Toxin Type A, which is just one of seven of the neurotoxins that are produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. Botulinum Toxin Type A causes serious fatal conditions such as paralysis.

When this occurs, the neurotransmitter that is in charge of triggering muscle contractions (acetylcholine) can no longer be released. The Botulinum toxins have attacked the proteins such as SNAP-25 that are supposed to be essential for release of this acetylcholine.

The Botulinum toxins have now accomplished blocking the signals that are supposed to tell the victim’s muscles to contract.

By now you’re probably wondering why anyone would want to inject these toxins into their body INTENTIALY. The reason is that we want to get results fast and Botox does work. If any area of your body can be prevented from moving, then it can’t contract and guess what? It can’t wrinkle – that is the phenomenon of Botox!

Botox starts to work within hours but the results will not last permanently. Depending on your body, the effects of Botox can last anywhere from 3 to 8 months.

As for whether Botox is dangerous or not, the dangers remain fairly low.

Botox is definitely not recommended for people with neuromuscular disorders as it would be dangerous for them. It is also not recommended for people with cardiovascular disease. If you don’t have either of these problems you should still consult with your physician before considering Botox.

Studies have shown that if you are a person that is a good candidate for Botox injections and the injections are administered by a qualified profession you should not experience any dangerous side effects. If you are searching for a way to look longer, generally Botox is a relatively safe way to combat the aging process.

Beauty is something we all appreciate and strive to possess.
There is no shame in wanting to look attractive and appealing to others. This desire to remain youthful looking and attractive has spawned a myriad of ways to actually accomplish this task. From various medicines and herbs to outright surgery, people will try all sorts of things to go back to looking the way they once did. One of the most common methods is using Botox for Beauty.

Botox is a painless and simple procedure that will remove the various lines and wrinkles from your face, giving you the youthful look you once had. Botox has become so wide spread that it is as common as dying your hair.

As our bodies age they naturally lose their youthful look and in many cases, their appealing appearance. This is just the harshness of the aging process and while you can take measures to slow it down, it is an inevitable occurrence. This law of nature can not be undone by modern medicine, however it’s side effects can be temporarily fixed.

No matter what kind of treatment you use to retain your youthful appearance, they are all temporary. As I said above, modern medicine has not yet reached the point where it can halt the aging process or it’s effects on our appearance. Using Botox for Beauty or other methods like plastic surgery can mitigate these effects but they do not last forever, especially when it comes to botox.

While some methods, such as surgery, can last for years or decades, botox lasts much shorter. So you have to make sure you get frequent injections to keep your face smooth and wrinkle free. You will have to speak with your doctor on the specifics and how often you will have to take these injections, but needless to say it is not a one time deal.

While botox is probably the simplest and easiest method to remain attractive, it is not without it’s risks. Botox works by, essentially, relaxing the muscles in your face which are the cause for your wrinkles. This can have numerous side effects which can be potentially harmful.

Some side effects can be things like difficulty swallowing or breathing, as the muscles in your throat become too relaxed to work properly. Drooping eyelids are another side effect as well as bruising and slight redness on your face.

So while there are side effects, like any medication they are generally slight and millions of people use Botox for Beauty without even the slightest hitch. So if you are interested in this treatment then you should speak with your doctor for more in depth information.

Using botox to improve your looks by removing the effects of aging may be a fast and simple method. But if the side effects are proving to be too much of a deterrent or if you simply do not mesh well with botox, there are other methods you can look into.

There are numerous creams and herbs that may work better for you. But if you can use botox then myself and many others would highly recommend it as it is very effective at what it does.
