Facts about the Common Murre (Uria aalge)

Baccalieu Island Ecological Reserve is one of the prime places in Newfoundland to view these birds. Also known locally as a "turr".

Very similar in appearance to the Thick-billed Murre, but it has a thinner neck and smaller head, with a straight, long bill.

The female lays a single, colourful egg, which she takes turn in guarding and keeping warm with the male.
